VORKURS: XI is set for publication in April of 2027.

VORKURS is the publication for the University of Florida’s Graduate School of Architecture. Founded in August 2015, it developed as an ode to the Bauhaus foundation course of the same name and aims to question outside parties, both academics and professionals, in order to instill the ideas of the school’s graduate students and faculty into the larger discourse of architecture. It does this through three lenses: pedagogy, the transition from academia to practice, and the future of the profession. As we approach Decade II of VORKURS, the mission remains the same.

Decade II of VORKURS and Century II of UF SoA grants opportunities for growth, and the editorial board found a desire to extend the conversation throughout the entire year. The flagship publications will continue to be published on an annual basis. However, starting with VORKURS: XI, a set of “mini-editions” will be produced to supplement a larger theme.

VORKURS: Conjugations is a set of moments meant to complement the yearly interests and efforts pursued by the editorial board. A cousin of sorts to the theoretic framework set by the team, this publication seeks to provide superlative data towards the endeavors of the graduate publication as a whole. These installations are not singular. Conversations will begin sooner, more will be able to share their perspective, and attention will be grabbed as the community anticipates the publication of VORKURS: XI in April 2027.

While the theme of VORKURS: XI is intentionally still a mystery, this first instance of VORKURS: Conjugations comments on the editorial team’s interests and interpretations of [redacted theme]. VORKURS: Conjugations I, with every piece being a part to the theoretical whole which makes up this year’s cohort, conveys the attitude held amongst the group as they pertain to VORKURS as an institution.
